With the rapid economic development in Yangtze River Delta, organic pigment industry has made significant progress and now this has become the chief organic pigment producing region in the country.
It is reported that the GDP of Yangtze River Delta region in 2006 broke through 2 trillion yuan, accounting for 20 percent of China's GDP, and per capita GDP was over 30,000 yuan. Major organic pigment manufacturing enterprises concentrate in Yangtze River Delta. The annual production of 10 major enterprises reached 111,000 tons in 2006, accounting for 60.8 percent of the total organic pigments yield in the country.
Import and export situation also reflects that China's focus of organic pigment industry is in Yangtze River Delta. Total imports and exports of organic pigments in first half year registered 96,800 tons, an increase of 13.9 percent compared with the same time a year earlier.
Of these, exports were 81,200 tons with actual organic pigment exports were about 40,000 tons, excluding coatings and printing paste, master batch and other paint products. The exports of Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang together accounted for 66.9 percent of the national total exports, an increase of about 10,000 tons compared with the same time a year earlier.
China imported 15,500 tons of organic pigments in the first half year, down 9.2 percent from the same time last year. Of these, the imports of Shanghai, Jiangsu and Zhejiang together accounted for 30.14 percent of the country's total imports.
