Gujarat Alkalies & Chemicals Limited (GACL), the single largest producer of caustic soda in India, is on an expansion spree.
The company has decided to explore expansion of caustic-chlorine production capacity by around 300 ton per day at Dahej and 50 TPD at Vadodara and also setting up another captive power plant of 45 MW capacity. It has planned to invest about Rs500 crore for all these developments.
According to reliable sources, the Board of Directors has agreed to take up chlorine based projects, which would use chlorine as a major input. The company is also contemplating to establish new projects through joint venture.
GACL has planned to invest around Rs200 crore for the expansion of caustic-chlorine production capacity.
