The latest statistics from China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association showed that China's pigment production hit 140,000 tons in August 2007, an increase of 8.1 percent over the same time last year. Total paint output reached 1.16 million tons, an increase of 11.9 percent.
Zhejiang produced 34,394 tons of pigment, an increase of 38.3 percent, ranking the first position in August.
Looking at the growth momentum of this year, production from September to December is expected to exceed the level of the same period last year, while the increase in paint output also contributes to the production growth of pigment.
In August, the largest pigment production was in Zhejiang Province, followed by Jiangsu with output reaching to 19,040 tons, but l 24.8 percent lower on a year-on-year basis. The output from January to August amounted to 190,000 tons, an increase of 2.8 percent.
In pigment production, Liaoning took hike and achieved the highest increase rate. While Jiangxi won the largest year-on-year growth for the first eight months.
According to statistics, the national pigment production in August rose 8.1 percent over the same time last year. Pigment growth of Shanghai declined. Hubei suffered the largest decline of 90.0 percent.
Over half of pigment producing provinces and cities represented more than 10 percent growth in production over the same period of the previous year.
