International textile fair - Hangzhou from May 23 to 25

amid escalating tensions over chinese textile exports, from the may 23 to 25 the international textile fair was held in hangzhou, a city in east china's zhejiang province.

attracted more than 800 traders and government officials from china, europe and the united states, the fair was sponsored by the hangzhou sub-council of the china council for the promotion of international trade (ccpit) and us trade show organizer c-me company.

according to chen xin, director of the exhibition department of ccpit hangzhou sub-council, attendees at the fair will include 72 us and european textile buyers, 15 representatives from the us textile and clothing industry association and officials from us customs. about 500 business executives and representatives from 90 chinese textile and clothing enterprises will also be present.

the fair also featured a lineup of high-profile speakers such as janet labuda, director of the textile enforcement and operations division under the us customs service, fawn evenson, vice-president of american apparel and footwear association and international trade expert, bobby hines.

participants will exchange views on how to further boost the sino-us business ties and promote textile trade between the two countries, said chen on sunday.

europe and the us both have been involved recently in trade disputes about chinese textile exports. chen said the fair is an opportunity for chinese textile producers to communicate with foreign buyers face-to-face and for foreign business people to further understand the chinese textile industry.
