Spain's largest trade show SIMM, the Madrid International Fashion Week, is expanding apace.

Participation at its most recent edition reached a record high, exceeding more than a thousand companies and covering a net exhibition area of over 38,702 m2.

These latest figures make SIMM Europe's second largest fair in the sector.

Quality, design and brand creation are the exhibitors' main aims. SIMM is a decidedly global event. European firms are one of the mainstays of this event and the participation of Latin American countries has also been strongly promoted.

The forthcoming edition of this fair will provide an opportunity to see men's, women's, lingerie and swimwear collections for Spring/Summer 2006, and will be divided up into different sections: Cibeles Space, Boutique Trend, Class and Evolution, the new section for top-end accessories firms known as Y+, the Gallery –with labels for the active, urban woman– Imagenmoda, the Platform section, which offers fashion designed by promising newcomers to the industry, and a section given over to Fashion Design schools.

The show will include regular features like the Moda Viva Catwalk presentations, providing an opportunity to see the collections of some of the top firms exhibiting at SIMM. Over the four-day event, a number of fashion parades will take place daily on a catwalk designed specially for the occasion.

As SIMM draws to a close, one of the major Spanish fashion platforms, the Cibeles Catwalk, will begin. Prestigious Spanish designers will be presenting their collections for Spring/Summer 2006.
