Germany will offer a €7-million grant to Bangladesh to ensure social protection of workers in the textile and leather sectors. An agreement was signed today in Dhaka regarding this.

Bangladesh's ministry of labour and employment (MoLE) is the partner, while the department of inspection for factories and establishments and the MoLE central fund are the executors of the project, titled 'Social Protection for Workers in the Textile and Leather Sector (SoSi).

The project was proposed in the 'Technical Cooperation Agreement 2021' signed on January 11 last year between both countries, a news agency reported.

Sharifa Khan, secretary, economic relations division in Bangladesh's finance ministry and Andreas Kuck, country director at the Dhaka office of German development agency GIZ, signed the agreement.
