Net sales at Finnish home textiles retailer Marimekko for the 12 months to December 31, 2016, climbed 4 per cent to €99.6 million as against €95.7 million in 2015, and also rose 4 per cent at comparable exchange rates. The growth was driven by increase in wholesale sales in Finland, EMEA and the Asia Pacific region, and retail sales in Finland and Australia.
For full year 2016, operating profit expanded due to reduction in costs, including lower marketing expenses than in the comparison year. However, a drag was exerted on operating profit by discount-driven retail sales and a downturn in relative sales margin. (AR)
