26th Hong Kong Fashion Week to focus on fashion tech

Jul '19
The 26th Hong Kong Fashion Week will focus on how technology is increasingly becoming immersed into fashion design and fashion business processes. The four-day fair from July 8 will be an ideal one-stop marketing and sourcing platform for the industry, with exhibits featuring the latest fashion designs, fashion accessories, fabrics and yarns.

Fashion Tech & Trade Services zone will be one of the highlights at the fair, featuring companies such as iGarment (Hong Kong), which will display its Garment Management System that uses a cloud-based service to cover all business processes, and PAD System International Limited, which has developed a cloud platform specifically for the apparel industry that enables users to complete the complicated pattern-making process from beginning to end.

A series of seminars will address the increasing importance of fashion tech knowledge for industry players. The “Next Stop for Fashion Tech” seminar on July  9 will look into the development and business opportunities presented by award-winning far infrared fabrics as well as the use of seamless bonding fabrics in functional apparel. And the “New Retail Era: Fashion x E-commerce Strategies” seminar has invited speakers to share their e-commerce strategies, including representatives from artificial intelligence-powered influencer marketing platform Cloudbreakr, global e-commerce fashion retail platform Zalora, and cross-border e-commerce logistics and fulfillment solutions provider ECMS.

The Corporate Fashion and Uniforms zone will return this year and feature the Hong Kong Designer Uniform Display, which showcases uniform collections from some of Hong Kong’s top designers including Vickie Au, Doris Kath Chan, Aries Sin, Mountain Yam and Mary Yu. Other zones will include the Fashion Gallery, International Fashion Designers’ Showcase, World of Fashion Accessories and more. A total of 11 group pavilions will be established with two new participants − from the Yuecheng District of Shaoxing in Zhejiang province and the Yinzhou District of Ningbo − in the Mainland China pavilion. Humen Town in Dongguan, one of the cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, will also join the fair again.

Events covering the latest market trends will include a presentation by international trend forecasting group Fashion Snoops on 8 July, at which it will unveil its Autumn/Winter 2020/21 fashion forecasts. A number of fashion parades will be arranged where new exhibitors from the Indonesia and Thailand pavilions will showcase their latest collections. (RR)
