The opening ceremony of the exhibition was dedicated to the theme ‘Sustainability and creativity: From new textiles to new fashion’. Guests of the opening ceremony were stylists Massimo Crivelli and Martino Midali, who brought back to the Filo participants their vision of fashion, the importance of having a constant relationship with those who produce fabrics and materials in a creative dialogue within the supply chain, which is more vital than ever for new ideas, according to a press release by Filo.
“The 58th edition of Filo closes with an excellent balance. For this success, I would like to thank the exhibitors who, as always, brought collections of the highest quality to the fair. I would also like to thank the buyers, who once again proved to be competent and concrete interlocutors for our exhibitors,” said head of Filo Paolo Monfermoso.
Monfermoso added: “Filo is increasingly a platform for work, for the exchange of ideas and projects, for collaborations that are born and grow in our stands and in our spaces. On the one hand, the ‘Creative Dialogues’ area — within which ‘Un Filo per la jersey’ was located — and the Sustainability Area with FiloFlow contribute to all this. Both are designed to be a guide and a far-sighted inspiration, but concrete to the work of companies. On the other hand, through the ‘Confrontation Dialogues’ we want to deepen the discussion on crucial issues for the textile industry, such as sustainability and innovation and the fundamental role of fibres in the development of new products. In particular, in this edition, great interest has aroused research on the opportunities and challenges of the UK textile market, carried out by the Piedmont Region and Ceipiemonte as part of the ‘Textile’ Integrated Supply Chain Project (PIF) promoted by the Piedmont Region and financed thanks to the POR-FESR Piedmont 2014-2020 funds, which was presented in one of the most followed among the ‘Dialogues of Comparison'.
“Confirming Filo’s international vocation, the collaboration between the Salone, the Piedmont Region, and the regional agency for internationalisation Ceipiemonte also made it possible to organise, again within the project, the incoming of a delegation of 14 incoming buyers from the United Kingdom and Spain, who during the visit were able to appreciate the high quality of the collections exhibited at Filo. Thirty-six foreign buyers arrived at the fair thanks to the excellent and long collaboration with the ICE Agency: thirteen countries of origin — France, Portugal, Ireland, United Kingdom, Hungary, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Ethiopia, Jordan, Palestine, South Africa, Vietnam, and India. Naturally, we must add to them the large number of Italian and foreign buyers who have come to Filo independently.”
“Designing the future of textiles also means protecting its cultural heritage. This is why Filo wanted to host the exhibition, curated by Elisabetta Invernici, ‘Aesthetics ‘70: The genius of Brunetta dialogues with Franco’. The solid foundations built in the past can in fact be a great inspiration for the future. The two days of the 58th edition of Filo were intense, full of meetings, professional exchanges, stylistic ideas, and discussions. The next appointment with Filo is for February 2023, with the 59th edition,” concluded Monfermoso.
The 59th edition of Filo is scheduled for February 22-23, 2023 at Allianz MiCo-Milan in Italy.
