The election conducting committee of ‘Sammilito Parisad’, a panel contesting in the upcoming Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) election, discussed these views at a meeting held at the Chittagong Club, in the port city of Chittagong in Bangladesh recently.
Former BGMEA President Siddiqur Rahman, serving as the chief coordinator of the election committee, chaired the meeting. Panel leaders of Sammilito Parisad, including SM Mannan Kochi, Syed Nazrul Islam of Well Group, Rakibul Alam Chowdhury of HKC Group, and others, participated in the discussion.
The focus was on electing capable leadership at BGMEA to facilitate effective coordination with the government. Members stressed the need for policies conducive to export growth and infrastructure development to propel the RMG sector forward in line with the nation’s development goals.
The meeting highlighted the collective commitment of industry stakeholders to advocate for a smart RMG industry, leveraging technology and innovation to enhance efficiency and sustainability.
Leaders expressed optimism about the potential for collaboration between the private sector and government agencies to drive progress in the apparel sector.
