Arunachal Pradesh govt launches textile promotion scheme

The Arunachal Pradesh government has launched the indigenous textile promotion scheme. This initiative will be a fillip to entrepreneurship and boost employment creation in Lower Dibang Valley (LDV) in the state of Arunachal Pradesh. As many as 500 weavers of the district will be benefitted with the textile scheme, according to a leading daily. 

The scheme is a support to the local weaver to develop various new textile products to increase business. Increase in the number of innovative textile products will improve the local economy, said Deepak Shinde, deputy commissioner of LDV while announcing the launch of the scheme. Free yarns were also distributed to the weavers. In a bid to improve the business of the local textile industry, Shinde assured the weavers of installation of essential modern facilities in the craft centre of the district.

Development of the Northeast is high on the list of priorities of the NDA government, Union textiles minister Smriti Irani said during the inauguration of an apparel and garment making centre in Pasighat, in East Siang district, recently. The state is also slated to get six more incubation centres to bring modern garment industry. (RR)
