  • The Australian consumer price index (CPI) rose by 5.2 per cent year-on-year to August 2023, with clothing and footwear seeing a 1.5 per cent increase.
  • Excluding volatile items, the annual CPI increase was 5.5 per cent, slightly down from 5.8 per cent in July 2023.
  • The country's trimmed mean inflation remained at 5.6 per cent in August 2023.
