In the period spanning July 2023 to April 2024, 726 vessels docked at the port, marking an 18-ship increase from the corresponding previous period. Notably, April 2024 set a monthly record with eight container ships arriving at the Mongla Port.
Container handling experienced a remarkable surge of over 20 per cent during this timeframe.
The first ten months of fiscal 2024 witnessed the handling of 2,189 containers, each measuring twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU). Additionally, cargo handling increased by 1.7 lakh metric tonnes, reaching 6.37 lakh metric tonnes from July 2023 to April 2024, in line with the growth in container handling activities.
The port’s revenue earnings also showed a substantial uptick, increasing by nearly 20 per cent until April of fiscal 2024 compared to the same period of the previous year.
