The China-Europe freight train services have seen a notable increase in the first four months of 2024, according to a recent update from the China State Railway Group Co, Ltd (China Railway). The number of trips made by these freight trains rose by 10 per cent year-on-year, totalling 6,184 journeys.During the same period, the freight trains transported approximately 675,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) of goods, marking an 11 per cent increase from the previous year.
As of April 2024, the cumulative number of freight train trips between China and Europe has reached 89,000, connecting 223 cities across 25 European countries, according to Chinese media reports.
