Container and cargo throughput at China’s ports grew consistently during the period between January 2021 and October 2021. The country’s ports collectively handled 12.87 billion tons of cargo, while the total container throughput was 235.48 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) during the first ten months of this year, as per the Ministry of Transport.Cargo throughput registered a growth of 7.8 per cent year-on-year and container throughput witnessed a growth of 8.4 per cent year-on-year between January and October, the ministry said.
In October, Chinese ports collectively handled 24.52 million TEUs and 1.32 billion tons of cargo, as per the data released by the ministry.
