Crystal group has been selected by World Benchmarking Alliance (WBA) as a keystone company of the SDG2000: the most influential 2,000 companies for a sustainable future. This benchmarks the impact on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and recognises the companies having the capability to move to a more sustainable future.

SDG2000 is comprised of companies from various industries that collectively make up half of the entire global economy. Crystal is being identified as having the most impact in two of the seven key transformation areas: social and circular. WBA selected the keystone companies based on five principles of sector dominance and control, global supply chain connectedness, institutional influence, and footprint. Crystal’s progresses and efforts made towards SDGs will be ranked in the coming years. The ranking, which will be freely and publicly available, will provide a new benchmark for investors, consumers, and all other stakeholders about how these 2,000 keystone companies are performing on SDGs, according to Crystal.

Crystal began the sustainability journey in 2007. Its sustainability framework and initiatives align with the SDGs to achieve a sustainable future for all. For instance, Crystal has planted over 2.8 million trees globally; empowered thousands of women workers; mounted photovoltaic panels to expand the use of renewable energy; contributed to local economic growth in the communities where Crystal operates; recycled and sourced sustainable supplies to achieve responsible consumption and production, to name a few.

In the coming future, Crystal will continue our commitment to scaling up the sustainability work and constantly execute different projects to align with SDGs. For example, Crystal targets to build a circular economy model, roll out roadmap on long term carbon reduction to step up our efforts to tackle climate change, partner with global organisations to drive collaborative and scalable impacts, and further empower women with new projects.

“As one of the shortlisted companies, we are delighted to be named on this first-ever SDG2000 list. This will definitely encourage us to work continuously towards the achievements of SDGs,” Catherine Chiu, general manager of corporate quality and sustainability department of Crystal said.
