The topic for this year’s summit is transformation. The annual summit will discuss what it takes to transform the throwaway economy into one where waste is eliminated, resources are circulated, and nature is regenerated.
The summit will also explore how the government and industry can be connected to tackle the biggest global challenges while creating resilience and wellbeing.
The foundation’s founder Dame Ellen MacArthur as well as policymakers, academics, business leaders, and changemakers have been invited to speak at the event. Speakers from the European Environment Agency, H&M, IKEA, MIT, renature and more will also be present to discuss the circular economy transformation.
The ‘Fix the economy, fix the climate’ session on June 8 will discuss how the circular economy can help tackle the root causes of the global challenges, by eliminating waste, creating new sources of value, and regenerating nature.
The second session on ‘Growth in a circular economy’ will be held on June 9 to explore how the circular economy can redefine growth, giving the power to grow prosperity, jobs and resilience while reducing greenhouse gas emissions, waste and pollution.
The third and final session on June 10 will be on ‘Shifting the system’ that will explore what it takes to think in systems, and how it can help solve some of the biggest challenges.
The sessions will be live-streamed at 12:00 GMT+1 and available to view immediately afterwards on catch-up for all other time zones.
