Include cotton yarn, tanned leather in PM package: FCCI

Pakistan’s Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) has welcomed the extension of the Prime Minister’s Export Package for three years and has urged the government to include cotton yarn and tanned leather in the extended package. FCCI president Shabbir Hussain said the extension will help bridge the gap between imports and exports of textiles.

Pakistan’s Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) recently extended the PM’s Export Package from this June to June 2021.

Hussain said the package has yielded positive results and textile export had gradually picked up in Faisalabad during the last few months, according to Pakistani media reports.

Although these items were included in the original exports package of Rs. 180 billion announced in 2017, these were excluded in the freshly-announced package without any valid reason, according to Syed Mazhar Ali Nasir, FCCI’s senior vice president. (DS)
