The government in India’s Uttar Pradesh (UP) state is planning to launch its own e-commerce website dedicated to goods identified under the state’s flagship One District One Product (ODOP) scheme, whose popularity has led to the state building its first handicrafts park in Greater Noida under the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA).

The portal, under test now, will promote the state’s handicraft globally, a news agency reported.

Anyone having goods and services tax (GST) registration can sell products on the website and those who are not registered can also be included as sub-vendors. An ODOP Mart is also being set up by the UP Handicrafts Development & Marketing Corporation to benefit artisans who do not have GST registration.

Meanwhile, 76 industrialists have acquired land at the handicrafts park spread over 50 acres to set up factories. The total investment is ₹403 crore. The factories will employ more than 22,000. The park will feature workshops, factories and outlets.
