On behalf of the US textile industry, Washington-based National Council of Textile organisations (NCTO) expressed grief on the sudden demise of Kent. "Mark’s unexpected passing is another severe and tragic blow for the US textile industry. He was an expert in his field who cared deeply for his workers and the communities that relied on Kentwool to provide employment and investment," NCTO president and chief executive officer Auggie Tantillo said.
Beginning his career at Kentwool in 1986, Kent is a 1985 graduate of Wake Forest University and a 1986 graduate of Clemson University's School of Textiles. In 1987, he also completed the International Program of the Australian Wool Corporation.
"From a national policy standpoint, Mark’s insight and direction on issues impacting the US wool textile sector will be especially missed," added Tantillo. (RR)
