Australia's Gwydir Valley Cotton Growers Association and Darling Downs Cotton Growers Incorporated recently held their annual grower awards with local growers recognised for excellence in the industry. Alan Moore from Bengerang stood out with the highest yield in irrigated land, accomplishing an impressive 16.32 bales per hectare.

Lindsay George from Livingstone Farm clinched the award for the highest yield in dryland with a yield of 6.41 bales per hectare. The young achiever award recognised the budding talent, Alex Trinder, spotlighting his noteworthy contributions at a young age. The Gwydir Valley service to industry award was presented to Lou Gall to honour his significant service to the industry, Cotton Australia said in a press release.

Around 210 people had a wonderful time at the Gwydir Cotton Growers Association Casino Royale Charity Awards Dinner and Auction, raising money for charity and celebrating all the award winners. The black-tie event raised around $100,000 for the region’s health fund which goes towards attracting medical staff to Moree while money will also go to local schools for various projects.

The Darling Downes Cotton Growers Inc awards dinner has been held in Dalby with around 200 people attending and having a fun night.

The celebratory dinner served as a distinguished occasion to recognise and applaud the award winners from the region.

The RDO Equipment Grower of the Year award was bestowed upon McVeigh Ag from Dalby, celebrating the concerted efforts of Steve and Bridget McVeigh. In addition to this, the CGS High Achiever of the Year accolade was awarded to Pallathorpe Enterprises ‘Macalister’, honouring the hard work and dedication of Ross, Janelle, Kurt, and Luke Von Pein.

There was a top-end display of fashion made from Tama wraps—with some of the male growers showing their fashion flair.
