“I was involved right from the weaving and wafting stage to the final development of the fabric. Archana sat with us months in advance to discuss her exact requirement. She needed two different kinds of fabric, one which would not be very thick but can be digitally printed and embroidered upon, and the second which would be flowy with a stretch. She was very particular about every detail,” Akash Khetan, owner of Narayan TexFabric, told Fibre2Fashion.
Kochhar’s new collection inspired by Banjara and Taj Mahal is a part of the ‘Make in India’ campaign. She collaborated with artisans from across India to revive various art forms of the country. Available in a range of colours, this collection uses rustic mirror work and digitally printed motifs. It was showcased at the FTL New York Fashion Week SS 17.
“A tale of two travels has been inspired by my travel to the Taj Mahal and the village of Banjara’s. The collection inspired by Banjara is a part of the “Make in India” campaign, initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Here I have worked with different sets of artisans from across India trying to revive and re-energize different art forms of India, some of which are dying,” said designer Archana Kochhar.
“The collection looks amazing and the response Archana has received is spectacular. I feel honoured to be part of the New York Fashion Week Event with renowned designer Archana Kochhar,” added Khetan. (KD)
