Netherlands’ consumer price index (CPI) measured inflation rate stood at 6.1 per cent in May 2023, according to a recent flash estimate from Statistics Netherlands (CBS). This is a marked increase from 5.2 per cent in April.An inflation rate of 6.1 per cent in May 2023 means that prices of consumer products were on average 6.1 per cent higher than in May 2022. The 6.1-per cent inflation is therefore not on top of the 5.2-per cent inflation of April, as per CBS.
According to the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) flash estimate, inflation stood at 6.8 per cent in May 2023, an increase from the 5.8 per cent inflation recorded in April 2023.
