New train route links China's Suzhou city to Milan in Italy

A new China-Europe freight train route has been started between Suzhou city in east China's Jiangsu Province and Milan in Italy Europe to transport goods. The first train linking the two cities, recently took off from China, carrying 100 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) with goods worth $3.73 million. It is expected to complete its trip in 25 days.

The city of Suzhou has opened 8 china-Europe freight train routes since 2013, linking it to over 80 cities in regions like Central Asia Europe and South East Asia.

The city operated 406 China-Europe freight trains in 2021, recording a growth of 38.12 per cent year on year, according to Suzhou Customs. Goods worth $2.25 billion were transported to Europe, up 66.52 per cent.
