The American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) announced that the latest products and product lines to receive the APMA Seal of Acceptance: EnergyHeel Inc's EnergyHeel shoes, Footwear Industries Ltd's Steel Blue Footwear, several shoe collections by the Rockport Company and Elastic Therapy Inc's support hosiery designs.
Products that enter the Seal program fall into two categories, the Seal of Acceptance and the Seal of Approval, and must be found valuable to overall foot health when used in a daily foot care regimen.
The Seal of Acceptance recognizes footwear, hosiery, insoles and foot care equipment products, while the Seal of Approval acknowledges therapeutic and pharmaceutical products, such as exfoliating agents, moisturizers and antiseptics.
"Companies with products that hold APMA's Seal of Acceptance set the benchmark for quality design and construction for the entire footwear and foot care industry," said APMA President Dr. Harold Glickman. "APMA is proud to recognize these foot-friendly businesses and product lines."
The Seal is awarded to a product after a committee of APMA podiatrists scientifically evaluate the product and determine whether it allows normal foot function and promotes quality foot health. Companies submitting products must provide research documentation, information on intended use, patents, composition, and evidence of quality control procedures for each submission. Currently 68 companies have products thathold the Seal, and many companies feature several approved or accepted products.
