Textile rental service Lindstrom expands to East India

Textile service company Lindström India, a 100% subsidiary of Lindstrom Oy, Finland has firmed up plans to start offering its workwear services to business customers in East India. Currently, Lindström operates in five Indian cities: Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad and now in Kolkata.

Lindström´s fifth unit in India, Kolkata will be serving industries and B2B operations in and around the city as well as neighbouring industrial towns like Haldia, Duragpur and Asansol. Services are likely to start in early 2012.

“Starting textile rental service in Kolkata area takes us one step closer to our goal: a service network covering the main cities and industrial towns in India” , President and CEO of Lindström Group Juha Laurio says. “Like all other operational areas, we are building our service centre network for India and increasing the capacity of our existing service centres due to growth in our customer base. We expect strong growth in the Indian market.”

Appointments in Lindström India
On 19th September 2011, Mr. Anupam Chakrabarty was appointed as Managing Director of Lindström subsidiary in India. Previously Mr Chakrabarty was in charge of operations in Lindström Mumbai area.

Kolkata Business Unit will be led by Business Unit Manager Jayant Roy. Jayant joins Lindstrom with a wealth of experience in the Consumer Durables sector in East India as well as various other parts of the country.

Sustainable operations
As an environmentally responsible organization, Lindström has various initiatives in place for waste water management as well as for energy, washing detergent and water consumption.

Continuous improvement of operations and reduction of the environmental load are an essential part Lindström's business. Lindström monitors it´s impacts to environment systematically and has set challenging goals for reducing environmental load globally.

Lindström has supported UNICEF Finland´s work for clean water and sanitation in India for years. In 2011, Lindström and UNICEF signed a four-year agreement on a partnership to support UNICEF Finland's new project in Madhya Pradesh.
