Chinese cotton output to be up in double digits

China's cotton harvesting basically drew to a close by end of November 2011.

Cotton acreage is estimated to be around 80.60 Mu (one hectare equals 15 Chinese Mu), an increase of 3.58 million or 4.6 percent from the previous year.

It is expected that cotton production will be 7.28 million tons in the current season, or a rise of 16 percent year on year.

Based on sample surveys, cotton acreage is expected to be 72.16 million Mu cotton in the next cotton season, a 10.5 percent decline from the current season.
