China's chemical fibre industry has achieved effective results in industrial upgrading and structural adjustment, which has increased the sector's ability to take risks and is contributing to relative stability of PTA demand.
The proportion of chemical fibres used in clothing, home textiles and industrial textiles has undergone a change in recent years. The proportion of use was 54:27:19 for clothing, home textiles and industrial textiles in 2005. By 2010, the respective proportions adjusted to 48:29:23.
During the second half of China's twelfth five-year plan period, the use of chemical fibres in home textiles is expected to overtake the use in clothing industry.
Thus, home textiles sector is set to become the major downstream industry of chemical fibres.
