Teijin Limited announced that Teijin Polyester (Thailand) Limited, one of the three Teijin group facilities in Thailand where operations had to be suspended from October 2011 due to flooding, restarted industrial fiber production on a partial basis on February 9 and then made its first shipment on February 11.
Efforts are under way to restore the remaining lines at Teijin Polyester (Thailand) in Pathum Thani Province, and to restart production at Teijin (Thailand) Limited in the Bang Pa-in Industrial Estate and Teijin Cord (Thailand) Co., Ltd. in the Rojana Industrial Park, the latter two both in Ayutthaya Province. Teijin expects to bring these facilities gradually back on line beginning in March once repairs are complete.
As production resumes at the three facilities, output will focus increasingly on high-profit, high-performance products, aiming to strengthen the competitive edge of the Teijin group's global base for polyester fiber production.
