Chinese yarn and fabric production dipped in January from a year ago, says a report released by the China Cotton Textile Association.
Yarn output fell 14.6 percent from a year earlier amongst the companies that were surveyed. Of which pure cotton yarn output dropped 17.1 percent and synthetic yarn production declined 17.1 percent.
However, cotton-blended yarn output rose 15.7 percent, while fabric production dipped 21.8 percent. Cotton yarn accounted for 79 percent of overall yarn output.
The body has attributed the decline in January to weak demand and longer holidays in January.
