Brazilian recycler Unnafibras Textil has purchased MRS technology, for production of textile fibres from recycled PET bottles, from German manufacturer Gneuss Kunststofftechnik GmbH.

Unnafibras has installed two lines of the technology at its headquarters in Santo André. These lines are already producing co-extruded polyester fibres from recycled material at 1500 kg/hr.

Gneuss MRS extrusion systems consist of the unique Multi Rotation System Extruder for dehumidification of the recycled material without cost-intensive pre-treatment, a Rotary Filtration System for safe removal of contaminated particles and an online viscometer for fully-automatic control of melt viscosity.

Since 1996, Unnafibras Têxtil Ltd. has been supplying polyester fibers from recycled PET bottles, and over the years, it has consolidated itself as one of Brazil's main suppliers.

During the last few years, the company has expanded its operations throughout Mercosur and the EU regions.
