Rejuvenated Seoul fashion week to be held in April

Seoul Fashion Week 2012 Fall/Winter will be held at a new venue, chosen by a fashion designer association led by designer Sang-bong, during the first week of April, 2012.

The fashion week also has a new organizer and will see presentations by several new designers this year, making it truly rejuvenated.

The event, being co-hosted by global fashion consulting company IMG and Seoul Metropolitan Government, will be held in four separate tents at Olympic Park's World Peace Plaza in southeastern Seoul.

Each of the four tents will be dedicated to separate segments of the event – Seoul Collection, Generation Next, Fashion Take-off and Seoul Fashion Fair.

Seoul Collection is the fashion show of Korean top designers and the core of Korean fashion industry, while Generation Next is aimed at promoting new designers, running an independent brand for over one year but less than five years.

Fashion Take-off is the intermediate stage between Seoul Collection and Generation Next for rising designers. Seoul Fashion Fair is an exhibition in which leading apparel companies specializing in menswear, womenswear and accessories participate.

A total of 36 leading designers will present their latest creations at Seoul Collection. Nineteen other designers will showcase their newest creations at Fashion Take-off, while 12 up-and-coming designers will participate in Generation Next, according to organizers.

For the first time, the Seoul Fashion Week to be held during April 2-7, 2012, will see participation of designers affiliated to the Seoul Fashion Artists Association (SFAA). The collections of veteran SFAA designers like Kim Dong-soon and Jang-kyuoung will be presented on the last day of the fashion week.
