Vietnam Textile-garments Group (Vinatex) is to enhance value for its products by focusing on developing brands and trademarks this year.
One reason working behind this is to deal with increasing input cost, exisitng fierce competition in local market created by a decline of import tax rates to 0-5 percent and the US export quotas imposed as Vietnam as it is not yet a full-fledged WTO member.
The group proposes to develop 10-20 national brand names and the Vinatex trademark, some of which will be advertised abroad.
It will also buy copyrights and work with foreign partners to develop two to four foreign brand names to market in local markets.
The group will set up centres for industrial fashion design and business in HCM City and Hanoi and expand the retailing system in Vietnam and abroad using the Vinatex trademark.
