Investment on high-tech products and clean industrial products with high-knowledge content will be the focus of Vietnamese industry in next five years, says Bui Xuan Khu, Deputy Industry Minister.
The country has planned industrial development strategy (2006-2010) in three groups.
Products of competitive lead like agro-forestry, textile-garments, leather and footwear, mechanical-electronic assembly and ship building are included in this strategy.
According to an estimate, export revenue of textile-garments is likely to reach US $9-10 billion and Vietnam will produce 1400 million square metre of cloth by 2010.
Average expansion for leather and footwear is set to be over 10 percent a year.
