The work for setting up a textile cluster project under Industrial Infrastructure Upgradation Scheme (IIUS) of the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, has completed and the cluster has become fully operational at Ludhiana, located in the north Indian state of Punjab.
The textile cluster project for Ludhiana costing Rs. 171.9 million was sanctioned in October, 2004.
The hazardous waste management facility constructed under the textile cluster project is being utilized by the entire textile industry in Punjab, Ludhiana MP Manish Tewari said.
Mr. Tewari further informed that a project for development of export infrastructure, for improving project quality and competitiveness, to boost exports of sewing machines, approved in 2008-09 by Punjab government, is also under implementation in Ludhiana.
