When the eyes of the world turn to the London 2012 Paralympic Games and its Opening Ceremony on August 29, the Australian Paralympic Team will achieve a shared goal that has driven and inspired each and every member.

To wear the Australian Paralympic Team uniform on the biggest stage of all.

The Australian Paralympic Committee (APC) is excited to partner with Fashion Week Australia (Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia - MBFWA) to exclusively unveil the complete uniform of Australia's Paralympians for the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

Designed by Iconic Australian brand R.M.Williams and leading sports performance brand 2XU, it is a uniform that truly reflects the essence of the 2012 Australian Paralympic Team aiming to rise above the world's very best.

Guests at Fashion Week Australia will have the chance to exclusively view the uniform on Tuesday 1 May, from 8:00-8:30am in the Box Room at the Overseas Passenger Terminal, Circular Quay.

“There is no higher honour for a Paralympic athlete than to wear the Australian Team uniform at the Paralympic Games. Wearing it for the first time is always a moment of great passion and pride.” said APC Chief Executive and Chef de Mission of the 2012 Australian Paralympic Team, Jason Hellwig.

“Australia has a proud tradition at the Paralympic Games, having participated at every Games since the first in Rome in 1960.

“The team uniform is an important part of this tradition and is one of the reasons why the APC brought R.M.Williams and 2XU on board. We knew both brands would help ensure our athletes look and feel at their best when it was time to compete at what will be the biggest event of their lives in front of a global audience of millions.”

During the launch, a selection of Australia's best Paralympians will model ceremonial wear by R.M.Williams and competition, casual and technical wear by 2XU.

Dressed in R.M.Williams' classic and uniquely Australian style at the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, the Team is set to embody the Australian spirit. On the field of play, our athletes will have a competitive edge dressed in expertly-designed green and gold high performance sport and technical wear from 2XU.

The 2012 Australian Paralympic Team Uniform Launch will feature dual Paralympic wheelchair marathon gold medallist Kurt Fearnley, eight-time Paralympic swimming gold medallist Matthew Cowdrey, dual track and field world champion Kelly Cartwright and winter Paralympic bronze medallist turned track and field specialist Jessica Gallagher.

Australia will send approximately 165 athletes and 140 staff to the London 2012 Paralympic Games to contest 13 sports.

Australia has finished in the top five on the medal tally at every Summer Paralympic Games since Atlanta in 1996.

At the London 2012 Paralympic Games beginning on August 29, more than 4,200 athletes from 160 countries will compete over 11 days in front of an expected global audience of 3 billion viewers.
