Shankar-6 raw cotton prices which had been moving in a narrow range for most of last month and the first few days of May, witnessed prices tumbling second week onwards.
From around Rs 34,850 per candy (1 candy = 356 kg) prevailing on May 1, it skirted down by 8.68 percent to Rs 31,825 per candy on May 23.
However it recovered to Rs 32,150 per candy by May 25.
The fall in prices began May 7 onwards and within six working days had lost Rs 1,875 per candy, before recovering Rs 350 by May 16.
However, Shankar-6 trends started bottoming out May 17 onwards and lost Rs 2,050 per candy again within a matter of five working days.
