According to a recent survey, cotton inventories with Chinese textile enterprises was down when compared with the average of the same period in the last three years.
According to relevant data from the National Cotton Market Monitoring System, as of May 9, China's cotton industry held about 888,000 tons of cotton inventories.
This is equivalent to only one-month consumption of the entire industry in normal years, down 8.3 percent compared with the average inventory level in recent three years.
Industry sources say that although the situation of domestic supply and demand is relatively optimistic, the large volume of low-price cotton imports could impact domestic prices in the short term.
