The Indian Air Force (IAF) is aiming to provide uniforms made using better quality fabric to its personnel.

For the purpose, a conference on clothing management of the IAF was held under the aegis of the Logistics Management Branch of headquarters, Maintenance Command.

Addressing the conference, AOC-in-C, Maintenance Command, Air Marshal Jagdish Chandra, said the uniforms worn by the IAF officials are not only a matter of pride, but they also protect the personnel against all weather extremities, and thus increase their operational efficiency.

He added that efforts should be made to improve the quality, quantity and production biometrics of different uniforms that are worn by IAF personnel.

The uniform manufacturers should embrace the constantly evolving technology in fabric production and tailoring.

The IAF uniforms are produced by Ordnance Factories at Avadi (near Chennai), Kanpur and Shahjahanpur. Representatives of these Factories were present at the conference.

According to a Defence PRO release, the conference aimed at synergizing all agencies supplying clothing to IAF.

The IAF has also sought assistance of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) and Indian Institute of Technologies (IITs) with regards to the designing and fabric quality of the uniforms.
