Chemical products register lower growth in Nov 2005

Department Of Statistics, Malaysia announces trade performance for the month of November 2005 and period from January to November 2005:

TRADE IN NOVEMBER 2005
Exports In November 2005, Valued At RM43.48 Billion Remained Strong , And Was The Highest Ever Recorded For The Month Of November . It Was, However, Lower By 12.5 percent Compared With RM49.72 Billion In October 2005, The Highest Monthly Export Registered For The Year .

Lower Exports In November 2005 Was Mainly Caused By Reduced Number Of Working Days Due To Festivities. This Was Also Reflected In Lower Imports In November 2005. Imports Were Valued At RM34.80 Billion Compared With RM39.20 Billion In October 2005.

A Trade Surplus Of RM8.69 Billion Was Recorded In November 2005, The 97th Consecutive Month Of Monthly Trade Surpluses Since November 1997.

The Continued Strong Export Performance In November 2005 Pushed Exports For The Period January To November 2005 To Reach RM484.37 Billion, Surpassing The Full Year Exports Of RM480.74 Billion In 2004.

EXPORTS IN NOVEMBER 2005
Compared To The Previous Month, Lower Exports Were Registered For Electrical & Electronic (E&E) Products, Chemicals And Chemical Products, Crude Petroleum, Palm Oil, Optical And Scientific Equipment, Machinery, Appliances And Parts And Manufactures Of Metal. However, Increases Were Recorded For Exports Of Transport Equipment, Iron And Steel Products, And Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).

There Were Lower Exports To Most Major Markets. However, Some Markets Registered Increases And They Include Viet Nam With 37.2 percent Increase, Thailand 5.6 percent, Hong Kong SAR 3.1 percent, And Australia 2.7 percent.
