Silk exporters group to counter Indian anti-dumping duty

nearly 20 major silk exporters, which accounts for 80 percent in chinese silk exports to india, are planning to battle against an indian anti-dumping case, stated an industrial representative at hangzhou, capital of zhejiang province in east china.

wang yu, secretary-general of the china chamber of commerce for the import and export of textiles informed that the representatives of the chinese companies discussed with lawyers from three legal companies in the meeting held at hangzhou, to seek the way out of the anti-dumping case against chinese silk exports in india.

wang informed that the case includes nearly 100 chinese silk exporters and products cost of $180 million. the chinese companies have about one month remaining to complete their reply. the chamber of commerce will investigate the issue, whether the chinese exports cause any disruption in the indian industry, wang added.

the official explained the reasons for the anti-dumping case, the indian industry has claimed that the chinese exporters are selling at a cost lower to the normal and it has resulted disruption in the indian industry.

bimal mawandia, chairman of indian silk export promotion council explained that the decision of imposing an anti-dumping duty on silk imports would result higher cost for the raw material for exporters.

deputy general manager of cathaya international holding co, lu xing concluded that the main task of the group was to try to convince india na not to impose the anti-dumping duty.
