Chinese exports of silk goods, which include raw silk, fabrics, garments, etc fell in the first five months of 2012.
China's exports of pure silk goods registered US $1.316 billion in January-May this year, down 8.95 percent percent year on year, according to customs statistics.
Shipments of raw silk marked 2357.5 tons, up 5.29 percent. Export value amounted to $109.64 million, down 8.27 percent year on year.
Exports of pure silk fabrics stood at 79.57 million meters, down 11.54 percent year on year. Export value amounted to $413 million, down 3.48 percent.
Shipments of silk garments and products touched $645 million, down 8.58 percent year on year.
Of this, silk garments reached 86.52 million pieces, down 35.96 percent. Export value amounted to $447 million, down 5.51 percent year on year.
And, silk knitwear exports reached 71.27 million pieces, down 39.12 percent year on year. Value amounted to $131.79 million, a rise of 0.7 percent year on year.
