Uzbekistan for improving textile trade with Azerbaijan

The Uzbekistan-Azerbaijani inter-governmental commission on trade and economic cooperation has identified textiles as one of the key areas for enhancing cooperation among the two countries.
 
Uzbekistan grows large quantity of cotton and the country is known for its textile industry, Mr. Sherzod Faiziev, Uzbekistan’s ambassador to Azerbaijan said.
 
Besides being one of the leading producers of raw cotton, Uzbekistan also produces finished textile products, and there is great scope to enhance bilateral trade relations, especially trade in textiles, the ambassador said.
 
He mentioned that the bilateral trade between the two countries has been growing during the past five years and it is currently more than US$ 60 million per year.
 
However, the present bilateral trade is very less seeing the great potential for trade relations between the two countries, he added.
 
Mr. Faiziev said the Government’s of both countries will work to improve contacts between their respective business organizations, which would, in turn, result in increased trade between the two nations.
