Top officials of the Rajasthan state government and the Central Government have reviewed the arrangements of ‘Vastra-2012’, a comprehensive international textile and apparel fair.

Alongside featuring the best and newest in textiles, the fair slated to take place in Sitapura area near Jaipur, Rajasthan from November 22 to 25 would also focus on providing market access to entrepreneurs and an exposure to state-of-the-art technologies, fashion and trends.

Alongside arrangements for the fair, the meeting also reviewed the progress made on development of nine industrial parks sanctioned for the state. The nine parks worth Rs. 15 billion sanctioned by the Centre for the state under the Textile Ministry’s integrated textile parks scheme have received grant-in-aid of Rs. 4 billion.

Rajasthan Chief Secretary C K Matthew informed that green signal has also been given to projects worth Rs. 272.4 billion under the Technology Upgradation Funds (TUF) Scheme in Rajasthan, which is 14 percent of the total investment in the India’s textile sector.

Union Textile Secretary Kiran Dhingra said Rajasthan has great potential in textile sector and hence, promotional activities and reviews should be done in the state on a regular basis.

Issues related to development of handloom, powerloom and handicraft industries in the state were also discussed at the review meeting.
