China's textile exports to Asean jump in Jan-Sept

Textile and apparel exports from China to Asean nations increased sharply compared to the average increase in the Chinese textile and garment exports to other countries during the first three quarters of the current year.

From January to September, China’s textile and apparel exports to Asean countries totaled US$ 17.29 billion, showing a rise of 20.8 percent year-on-year, according to the figures released by China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textiles.

China’s textile and garment exports to Asean nations grew by a whopping 36.7 percent year-on-year to US$ 2.19 billion during the month of September, according to the data.

Over the years, textiles segment led Chinese textile and apparel export growth to the Asean region. However, this year the scenario changed and clothing exports became the main driver of Chinese textile and garment export growth to the region.

During the nine-month period, China exported yarn and fabric worth US$ 8.68 billion to the Asean region, registering a rise of 10.7 percent year-on-year. In comparison, Chinese garment exports to the region fetched US$ 5.98 billion, showing a growth of 53.3 percent year-on-year.
