Demand for Zimbabwean textile products continues to gain a firm ground in the Asian region and Malaysian business men have shown keen interest in entering into joint ventures with local companies.
Zimbabwe is in an advantageous position as demand for natural cotton has grown compared to synthetic cotton which it can supply.
Zimbabwe is considered as one of the best cotton producers of Africa. Asian countries find Zimbabwe a better destination to satisfy their increasing requirement of cotton.
Mr Laputa Hwamiridza, local co-ordinator of Business Network International (BNI), said the Malaysians became interested in local textiles at the international conference held in the United States of America, last year and has invited local companies to an exhibition in Kuala Lumpur scheduled for April.
Mr Hwamiridza, also the Managing Director of Dezign Incorporated, a textile fabrics manufacturing firm, informed of some Malaysian investors being interested in helping local farmers for ensuring continuous supply of top quality cotton.
