Reliance Industries Ltd sets up $3mn fibre application centre

a state-of-the-art fibre application centre of reliance industires limited has been inaugurated at patalganga near mumbai by ril executive director nikhil r meswani.

the centre which is to conduct application research on polyester fibre and spun yarn has been set up at the cost of us $3 million, an official release said.

rieter machine works, the switzerland based world's leading manufacturer of textile spinning machinery will join ril in close collaboration to provide compelling value to downstream textile industry.

having the latest state-of-the-art rieter machines to test fibre applications, the centre has chute feed cards, auto lever drawnframe, ring frame, open-end spinning machines and flyerframe duly installed. it can also simulate mill climatic conditions.

speaking at the occasion, meswani said, "in a quota free regime, the troika of reliance technology centre at patalganga, reliance testing centre at coimbatore and reliance fibre application center will shrink the time taken from conceptualisation of a product to its launch in the global markets for us and customers".

the release stated that the new facility reduces the development cycle time by providing quality yarn samples that are tested at the application centres.
