The strengthening of economic ties is also reflected by the number of Malaysian and German joint organisations and institutions, established since 1992, including, the Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MGCC) and the German-Malaysian Institute (GMI).
The first meeting of the Malaysia-Germany Joint Economic Committee (JEC) held on 8 October 2004 in Berlin has created an additional platform for strengthening political and economic level contacts. The second Joint Economic Committee meeting is scheduled to be held in Kuala Lumpur on 14 September 2006.
The visit of our Prime Minister YAB Dato' Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to Germany in May 2005 had attracted notable interest from 300 members of the German business community.

They were updated about opportunities for continued business cooperation between Germany and Malaysia. In addition, the existing bilateral agreements between Malaysia and Germany are a testimony to the strong and cordial ties between both our countries.
These Agreements include Avoidance of Double Taxation, Air Services Agreement, Technical Cooperation Agreement and Investment Guarantee Agreement.
This Mission's visit to Hamburg is a follow-up to the Prime Minister's visit last year and it is hoped new business alliances can be forged between the two business communities.
