Children's wear prices up 5%

A 5 percent rise over last year as compared with early March 2006, has been recorded in case of children's wear prices in domestic market even as increasing materials costs push producers to hike their sales prices, sources from Trade Ministry informed.
However, it is paradox that Chinese textiles have a 75 percent market share even though Vietnam is among leading textile and garment producers of the world.
Current price of 100 percent cotton children's wear (for 1 - 2 years old) imported from China is US $1.1 – 1.25 per suit, and VND 22,000 – 23,000 per suit of same kind for 3-4 years old.
Meanwhile, price of same kind made by local producers is lower, on average of $ 0.6 – 1.0 per suit (for the age of 1 - 3) which clearly shows the difference.
