Commerce Minister of Pakistan Humayun Akhtar Khan will be on a three-day visit to Bangladesh from April 19.
He will discuss signing of the bilateral Free Trade Agreement (FTA) by September 30 this year between the two countries.
The signing of the agreement will be in compliance to the accord reached with Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia while she was on a visit to Islamabad during February, this year.
Pakistan preferred settling the FTA issue in order to go for enhancement of trade between the two countries, informed an official of Pakistan High Commission in Bangladesh.
Bangladesh suffered trade deficit to the tune of Tk 142.64 crore with Pakistan during first quarter of fiscal year 2005-06. Bangladesh exported goods worth Tk 64.29 crore whereas its imports amounted to Tk 206.93 crore.
Bangladesh exports raw jute, jute goods, chemicals, plastics and tea to Pakistan, while its major imports included textile and textile chemical, machinery and vehicle.
